St. John’s, in collaboration with FJ Sciame Construction Company, Inc., Gensler Architecture and AKF Engineers, held a “Topping Off” ceremony (a time-honored tradition within the construction industry that marks the moment when the last steel beam is hoisted into place) today for its University Center/Academic Center (UC/AC) to open in the fall of 2009.

The Rev. John B. Murray, C.M. Priest Residence
The Rev. John B. Murray, C.M. Priest Residence was completed in December 2007.  Fourteen members of the Congregation of the Mission, previously housed on the upper floors of St. Vincent Hall over several University offices, moved into the Tudor-style edifice in January.

Carnesecca Arena
$5 million interior renovation will include an enhanced lobby area, renovated bathrooms and other common areas. Seating in the lower arena will be replaced with more comfortable chair-back seats and bleachers in the upper arena are being replaced. Cosmetic upgrades are being made to both areas.

The library will be a crossroad, blending physical and virtual information.  It will be a place where students choose to come because it’s structure, design and contents ease the exchange of ideas and information.

Carnesecca Plaza
The street outside the main entrance of Carnesecca Arena will soon be transformed into a plaza with stone walkways surrounded by trees, lamps and benches.
