St. John’s University student groups will host an Election Watch
Party on the Queens Campus on Tuesday, November 4.
As part of the Participate in '08 Initiative, the College
Republicans, College Democrats and Student Government, Inc. will
gather in Council Hall beginning at 8 p.m. to watch live, as the
final ballots are cast in the 2008 Presidential Election.
The party, which is scheduled to run until midnight, is open to all
St. John’s University students and will feature a big-screen
television, which will broadcast the news coverage during the final
hours of voting. Light refreshments will be served.
On the Staten Island campus, the Office of Multicultural Affairs
will host a Poll Watching Social at 7-10 p.m. Students are
invited to the Residence Life Community Room to watch the news, as
well as engage in discussion concerning the outcome of the
election.
Participate in ‘08 is a collaborative effort between St. John’s
University student organizations represented by the St. John’s
University College Democrats, St. John’s University College
Republicans, Student Government, Inc., student leaders, faculty,
staff and University administrators all committed to non-partisan
voter registration and increased civic education and engagement in
anticipation of the 2008 Presidential Election.
