Three-Day Conference Sponsored by Fellow
Vincentian Universities in the United States
The Fifteenth Annual International Conference Promoting Business
Ethics was held October 22-24 in New York City at St. John’s
University’s Manhattan campus. St. John’s Peter J. Tobin College of
Business and St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
co-sponsored the weekend conference with the other U.S. Vincentian
schools represented by De Paul and Niagara Universities.

Event Details
A full slate of breakout topic sessions took place during the
three-day conference complete with expert lectures from some of the
top business professionals worldwide. Steven Papamarcos, Dean of
the Tobin College of Business, opened the first day of the
conference with a welcome to the 150 registered participants,
followed by an inspired luncheon speech by Rev. Mark Pranaitis,
C.M., on the place of virtue in business.
The conference theme, “Business Ethics – Back to Basics,” dealt
with interesting subject matter which included: International
Business; Ethical Decision Making; Ethics and Entrepreneurship,
Ethical Leadership; Philosophical Import; Cultural Impact; Ethics
and the Economy; Corporate Social Responsibility; Bioethics;
Financial Issues; Ethics in Accounting and Reporting; Cases
Challenging Ethics; Ethics in the Curriculum and Green Marketing,
just to name a few.
A myriad of business professors from universities (including the
three host institutions) on the national and international level as
well as corporate professionals were on hand to speak to their
expert topics.
